Vancouver police Sunday night arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with a reported abduction of a 37-year-old woman.

Robert J. Hill of Vancouver was arrested.

Police on Sunday had been investigating a possible assault and abduction, said Officer Dave Chamblee.

The incident happened at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday night.

Witnesses told police that Hill was involved in an altercation with Cary Ann Marie Wann of Vancouver. The witnesses said Wann was pulled or pushed into a car against her will, Chamblee said.

Police on Sunday asked for the public’s help in locating the pair, who left the 1400 block of Z Street in Vancouver in a 1995 Eagle Talon with an Oregon license plate.

About 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Officer Dustin Goudschaal observed the car in the 1500 block of W Street. Goudschaal then saw Hill and Wann approaching the car.

Officers converged on the car and after a short foot chase took Hill into custody. Police said he was arrested on suspicion of second-degree kidnap-domestic violence and fourth-degree assault-domestic violence.
