Who says the Pacific-10 Conference is a USC-dominated bore?

Last week, Oregon put down USC and appeared dead set on a big-time Bowl Championship Series appearance.

Saturday, the Ducks were suddenly grounded, as Stanford pulled out a 51-42 upset victory.

Then there was UCLA holding off Washington, 24-23. As well as intriguing battles with Oregon State rolling past California and USC holding off Arizona State.

Add in Arizona’s 48-7 blowout of Washington State, and the Pac-10 has become a fascinating case study in what happens when expectations meet reality.

Right now, Oregon and Arizona top the conference. But Stanford, California and Washington are on the rise, while OSU is quietly gaining ground.

As for USC? They’re stuck in the boring middle.

So much for Trojan dominance.

But USC will never be able to hit rock bottom.

That lowly, destitute place is reserved solely for WSU.
