Skyview High School
Cody Hays, Vancouver, a member of Boy Scout Troop 14, received his Eagle Scout Award in a Court of Honor on Oct. 17. For his service project, he led a team to move and renovate an existing park bench and landscaping and installed a new park bench and landscaping at H.B. Fuller Park. The existing bench and landscaping was originally installed in memory of Cody’s brother, Travis, in 2001. Travis was a fifth-grader at Salmon Creek Elementary School who died in an auto accident in 2000. Cody’s original handprints and a memorial plaque in honor of Travis were moved with the bench to its new location, and Cody re-imprinted Travis’ cleat marks. The project involved more than 235 hours combined with a total cost of $2,700. Cody is a junior at Skyview High School and the son of Gary and Connie Hays.
