Try This: Everything’s coming up tulips

Spring is here, which means it’s time for the Woodland Tulip Festival. The festival gives the public a chance to tour display gardens and view a variety of tulips at Holland America Bulb Farms. The festival is open daily, but a variety of activities will take place each Saturday and Sunday. The fun includes music, arts and crafts displays, and children’s activities.

When: The festival opens today and continues through April 25. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Activities will be offered today, Sunday and April 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25.

Where: Holland America Bulb Farms, 1066 S. Pekin Road, Woodland.

The festival is just one of several weekend entertainment options in Clark County and Portland. Others include an Easter egg hunt, an exhibit at the Sixth Street Gallery and a concert headlined by popular rock band Muse.

1. Egg hunt lets children enjoy Easter a day early

LifePoint Church will host an Eggstreme Egg Hunt in east Clark County today. It is one of the largest egg hunts in Clark County and features more than 20,000 eggs that will be filled with candy, cash and prizes. There will be separate hunts for children age 2 through pre-kindergarten, kindergartners through second-graders, third- through fifth-graders and special needs children. Other attractions include a slide, an obstacle course and bounce houses.

2. Rural, urban tensions examined in art exhibit

The latest exhibit at the Sixth Street Gallery in downtown Vancouver examines an issue pertinent to Clark County. The work on display looks at the ties and tensions between urban and rural communities. The exhibit remains on display through May 2.

3. Muse brings ‘Resistance’ to Portland

British rock trio Muse stops by Portland for a concert tonight. The band is touring in support of its latest release, “The Resistance,” which features the hit single “Uprising.” Muse, which blends progressive rock and electronica, gained mainstream music acclaim for its 2006 album, “Black Holes and Revelations.” The album featured popular singles such as “Starlight” and “Supermassive Black Hole.” The Silversun Pickups will open the show.

4. Gods go to battle in ‘Clash of the Titans’

“Clash of the Titans,” a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, arrives in movie theaters this weekend. Perseus (Sam Worthington), the son of Zeus (Liam Neeson), is caught in a war between the gods. He wants to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), the god of the underworld. To do so, he puts together a group of warriors to prevent Hades from destroying the world. The film, which will also be shown in 3-D in select theaters, is rated PG-13.
