Prep roundup: Lauritzen, Kelley win three times at Twilight

Papermakers win girls team title; Skyview rolls to boys championship

Two Camas athletes each won three events Friday night and were named the top athletes at the John Ingram Twilight Track and Field Meet at Columbia River High School.

Megan Kelley won the 200 and 400 meters, and the long jump to take top honors in the girls meet. She led the Papermakers to the team title.

Mikey Lauritzen of Camas was named the male athlete of the meet after he won the 110 high hurdles, long jump, and javelin.

Skyview outdistanced host Columbia River for the boys team title.

Brad Michael of Skyview sprinted to victories in the 100 and 200, helping the Storm amass 133 points.

Kyle Boe of Columbia River won the 1,600 and the 3,200. The Chieftains finished second with 87 points.

Jon Lawson of Prairie was the other multi-event winner in the boys meet, claiming titles in the discus and shot put.

Camas scored 145 points in the girls meet. Skyview was second at 100.

Skyview’s Rachel McQuivey won the 100 and 300 hurdles.

Heidi Greear of Washougal was the lone Class 2A athlete from Clark County to win two events — the shot put and the discus.

The Twilight attracted 15 teams, representing four classifications from Southwest Washington.

Baseball

Heritage 13, Mountain View 2 — Luke Heyer blasted two home run, including a grand slam, leading Heritage to the Class 4A GSHL victory. Heyer drove in six runs.

Alex Foulon struck out six in six inning of work to pick up the pitching win.

Kelso 4, Skyview 1 — Justin Gillen pitched a complete game, scattering five hits, for the host Hilanders.

Evergreen 5, Battle Ground 4 — Cody Clune went six innings for the win and Danny Martinez pitched the seventh for the save, leading the Plainsmen.

Austin Wyatt drove in two runs and had two doubles for Evergreen.

Columbia River 16, Hudson’s Bay 4 — The Chieftains had a seven-run first inning and a six-run sixth to roll past Bay. Steven Porter and Christian Bannister each went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI for River.

Camas 4, Fort Vancouver 0 — Zach Carter scattered three singles and struck out nine to pick up the complete-game win for Camas (5-1, 3A GSHL). Kurt Yinger and Logan Grindy each went 2 for 3, accounting for all of the Papermakers’ hits. Yinger had a double and two RBI.

Union 6, Prairie 1 — A four-run fifth inning broke open a tight game as the Titans won at Prairie. Brandon Kent pitched a two-hitter for Union.

Caleb Whalen was 2 for 2 with a double and RBI, and Kenan Stolz, Skyler Frasier and Michael Takayoshi knocked in runs for Union.

Ridgefield 6, Hockinson 5 — Two solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the host Spudders to the Class 2A GSHL win.

Hockinson scored once in the top of the ninth to take a 5-4 lead. Michael Schwinof hit a tying home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth, and Nick Harvey won it with a two-out home run.

Parker Rush hit a game-tying two-out double in the sixth inning for Ridgefield, which improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.

The second game of the doubleheader was suspended at the end of six innings because of darkness with the score tied 5-5.

Softball

Ridgefield 9, Washougal 6 — Sydney Ferryman hit a home run and drove in four runs, leading the Spudders to a 2A GSHL win.

Soccer

Evergreen 3, Heritage 2 — Cody Camp scored two second-half goals, giving the Plainsmen a 3-1 lead. Camp also assisted on Evergreen’s first-half goal.

Skyview 4, Battle Ground 0 — Andrew Graham and Sean Price each scored twice in the first half for the Storm. Troy Carpenter had two assists.

Columbia River 4, Fort Vancouver 2 — Steven Hughes had a goal and two assists, and Eli Gaynor scored twice for the victorious Chieftains.

Union 4, Prairie 0 — Mikhail Doholis had a goal and two assists for the Titans at McKenzie Stadium.

Camas 7, Hudson’s Bay 0 — Connor Valenter scored three goals and assisted on two others, and Nick Palodichuk continued his torrid scoring run for the Papermakers.

Palodichuk scored three goals, giving him 17 this season.
