BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Linda Lappe, a former player and team captain for Colorado, returned to the school Monday as the new coach of the Buffaloes’ women’s basketball team.
Introduced at a news conference outside the Coors Events Center, Lappe was signed to a five-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released. She replaces Kathy McConnell-Miller, who was let go last month after going 65-88 in five seasons.
Lappe played at Colorado from 1998-2003. She was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection and helped Colorado to three straight NCAA tournament appearances, including a spot in the round of eight in 2002.
Lappe spent the last three seasons as head coach at Metropolitan State College in Denver, where she went 50-36. The Roadrunners finished with winning records in each of her three seasons.
