LONDON (AP) — Chelsea defeated Bolton 1-0 on Nicolas Anelka’s 43rd-minute header Tuesday to go four points ahead of Manchester United in the English Premier League race.

Anelka’s goal against his former club sent Chelsea to its fourth straight league victory and keeps the FA Cup finalist on course for a double.

Chelsea can afford to lose one of its four remaining matches and still win its first championship since 2006. Chelsea plays at home Saturday against Tottenham and later faces Liverpool on the road.

Arsenal is six points back in third place going into Wednesday’s game against Tottenham.
