MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Central Michigan and coach Ernie Zeigler have agreed to a new four-year contract.
The agreement replaces the final year of Zeigler’s current contract. It will keep him with the Chippewas through the 2013-14 season.
Central Michigan is coming off back-to-back Mid-American Conference West Division titles.
Tuesday’s announcement comes the day before Zeigler’s son, Trey, plans to disclose where he will attend college next season. The 6-foot-6 senior at Mount Pleasant High School was the runner-up for this year’s Mr. Basketball award honoring Michigan’s top high school player.
Ernie Zeigler has led Central Michigan to a 54-69 record over four seasons.
Zeigler will earn a base salary of $175,446 per year.
