SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos received $1.8 million worth of compensation in 2009, an Associated Press analysis of a regulatory filing shows.

Bezos’ pay was up 39 percent from the previous year as the company spent more on his personal security. He received a salary of $81,840, the same as in previous years.

The AP’s executive pay calculation aims to isolate the value the company’s board placed on the CEO’s total compensation package. The figure includes salary, bonus, incentives, perks and the estimated value of stock options and awards.
