ST. LOUIS (AP) — A hamstring injury has landed St. Louis Cardinals backup catcher Jason LaRue on the 15-day disabled list.
The Cardinals recalled rookie Bryan Anderson from Triple-A Memphis before Wednesday night’s game against the Houston Astros.
The 36-year-old LaRue hurt his right hamstring while running the bases Sunday in Milwaukee. He has appeared in two games, going 0 for 4.
The 23-year-old Anderson is in the major leagues for the first time. He was a fourth-round draft pick in 2005 and will be the backup behind Yadier Molina.
