PASCO, Wash. (AP) — Two Franklin County Jail guards accused of planning to sell marijuana pleaded guilty Thursday in a deal with prosecutors to avoid prison.

The Tri-City Herald reports 44-year-old Kevin Still admitted he attempted to possess marijuana and 32-year-old Sonya Symons pleaded guilty to distributing marijuana.

Federal prosecutors agreed to dismiss conspiracy charges and recommend probation when the Pasco couple are sentenced in July in federal court in Richland.

The jail guards were arrested in October after Still tried to buy five pounds of pot from an undercover officer in a deal arranged by a jail inmate.
