CLARK COUNTY — The Arc of Clark County, a nonprofit agency that helps local residents with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities, has won a $25,000 subgrant from the national umbrella Arc group.

The grant, aimed at helping youth with disabilities move from public school to adulthood and all its opportunities — independent living, employment, post-secondary education, vocational training and public affairs.

The agency will use the grant to work with the Clark County Parent Coalition, the Autism Cadre, Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation and local school districts to help young people and families prepare early for life beyond the public school years.

This grant was made possible by an overall $3 million grant made to the Arc of the United States by the Walmart Foundation. The Arc of the United States made 45 sub-grants to local chapters. There are 730 state and local Arcs.
