SEATTLE (AP) — Hundreds of volunteers have spread out along Washington’s Pacific shore for some serious spring cleaning.
The Washington Clean Coast Alliance says the volunteers removed 24 tons of trash during Saturday’s outing.
They say the garbage included plastic water bottles, household trash, lost fishing gear, and other types of washed up debris that kill or poison marine wildlife.
Olympic National Park Superintendent Karen Gustin called the clean-up a valuable event and thanked the volunteers.
