TONASKET, Wash. (AP) — Closing arguments are expected this week in the trial of a Spokane pair charged with killing a pregnant woman with an ice pick near Tonasket.
Thirty-year-old Tansy Fae-Arwen Mathis and 34-year-old David Eugene Richards face life in prison if convicted of killing 25-year-old Michelle L. Kitterman and her unborn baby March 1, 2009.
The Spokesman-Review reports that 33-year-old Lacey K. Hirst-Pavek also awaits trial for the killing. Investigators say she planned the attack because Kitterman was having an affair with her husband.
A fourth defendant, Brent L. Phillips, of Spokane, pleaded guilty to Kitterman’s murder last month. A plea deal calls for him to get 26 years in prison when sentenced May 11.
