PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Sgt. Scott Westerman has resigned as president of the Portland police union.

The Oregonian newspaper reports that Westerman faxed his letter of resignation to precincts Monday afternoon.

Westerman is under investigation for two road-rage incidents in January.

Westerman said last week he would resign if he could no longer be an effective president of the 950-member Portland Police Association.
