KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — The Coast Guard says it is rescuing four people from the Gulf of Alaska after they reported their Seattle-based fishing boat was sinking.

Petty Officer 1st Class David Mosley says the crew of the 75-foot Northern Belle radioed at about 5:30 p.m. that the boat was sinking about 50 miles south of Montague Island. He says a Coast Guard plane from Air Station Kodiak has dropped a life raft to the four and a rescue helicopter is attempting to hoist them on board.

The condition of the four was not immediately known.
