BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Bellingham police say a store employee was punched in the mouth after he told a man that customers had complained about his body odor.

Police spokesman Mark Young tells The Bellingham Herald that police went to a Cost Cutter store after a report of a fight and found employees holding down a man.

The newspaper says customers apparently complained while the man was in the store Sunday, and the employee decided to discuss it with him when he returned the next day. Young says the man snapped and punched the worker, causing a minor injury.

The Herald says 31-year-old Christopher Boehringer, of Ferndale, was booked into the Whatcom County jail for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
