The Evergreen baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the seventh, but still fell one run short of a win over first-place Kelso, falling 8-7 on Wednesday.

Jared Powell’s three-run double in the bottom of the seventh made it a one-run game. But he was stranded there after a hard-hit ball was caught in the outfield for the final out of the game.

Heritage 5, Battle Ground 3 — The visiting Timberwolves used a four-run fifth inning to beat the Tigers. Mike McDonald tripled and knocked in three runs, and Jake Dahlberg was 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI for Heritage. Kyle Grissom pitched a complete game, limiting Battle Ground to four hits.

Skyview 2, Mountain View 0 — Kegan Duz-Aguilar gave up four hits in a complete-game shutout, and Skyview remained tied for second in the 4A GSHL.

Freshman Riley Henderson had two hits and scored both runs for the Storm. Bud Collura drove in a run.

R.A. Long 8, Washougal 4 — The host Lumberjacks hit two home runs and built an 8-0 lead. Three R.A. Long pitchers limited Washougal to four hits.

Kelso 6, Heritage 4 — Korina Paavola hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Hilanders to the win.

After Heritage took a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh, two Timberwolves errors helped Kelso rally without an out in the bottom of the seventh.

Desirae Cook was 4 for 4 with four doubles and knocked in two runs for Heritage.

Skyview 7, Moutain View 6 — The Storm scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win. Taelor Jones hit a solo home run to start the seventh-inning rally. Kristin Webb and Kamille Dobbins hit singles. Webb scored the tying run on a wild pitch, then Alyssa Huntley’s squeeze bunt scored the winning run with one out.

Jones had three RBI in the game and Webb hit a double.

For Mountain View, Paige Martin hit a home run and was intentionally walked twice. Mackenzie Samuelson went 3 for 4 and scored twice.

Battle Ground 4, Evergreen 2 — Ashley Trump’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning broke the tie, and the improving Tigers improved to 2-1 in league play.

Prairie 10, Hudson’s Bay 0 — Grace Middlestadt had two hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs as Prairie remained unbeaten in league play.

Chelsea Creech struck out seven in the five-inning shutout.

Camas 19, Fort Vancouver 2 — Mariah Jimenez was 4 for 4 with two home runs as the Papermakers beat the Trappers in a five-inning game. Jimenez had six RBI. Sarah Nidick and Kelsey Eason had three hits apiece as Camas pounded out 20 hits.

Union 17, Columbia River 3 — Mariah Dawson and McKenna Speith each drove in three runs, and the Titans rolled to a win in a matchup of teams that made it to the state tournament last year.

Washougal 6, Hockinson 5 — Ashley Carroll and Jessy Dinius scored with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to provide the winning margin for the Panthers.

Carroll and Dinius each hit singles, advanced on a passed ball, then scored on Mackenzie Helland’s hard-hit grounder to shortstop.

Megan Flattum had two hits and three RBI for the Hawks, who rallied from an eatly 4-1 deficit to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth.

Kalama 7, La Center 2 — Kiley Monson homered and struck out eight for the host Wildcats, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Trico League leading Chinooks.
