A 14-year-old Woodland boy has been booked into the Cowlitz County juvenile detention facility on accusations he was behind a bomb threat found written on a school restroom wall.

Woodland police spent hundreds of dollars in overtime costs to add security at Woodland Middle School on Thursday. On Wednesday afternoon, school officials found the following note was found on a boy’s restroom wall: “the school is going to blow up, 4-22-10.”

After reviewing security video and receiving a tip from school staff who recognized the handwriting, police questioned the boy, who allegedly told them there was never any bomb and that he wrote the threat on the wall because he was mad at some other students and hoped they would get in trouble for it.

The boy will be referred to juvenile authorities on suspicion of threatening to bomb or injure property, harassment and malicious mischief, according to a police news release.
