The Vancouver City Council is taking a trial run of including public comments at its bimonthly consent agenda meetings, starting Monday.

Public comment was previously only held during meetings on the first and third meetings of the month; this change allows the council to hear testimony at all four monthly meetings. The public comment is the last item on the 6 p.m. agenda; speakers are asked to limit their comments to three minutes.

“Adding citizens communications at the end of our Consent Agenda meetings means that at every council meeting, our City Council will be available to listen to what’s on the mind of our citizens,” Mayor Tim Leavitt wrote in an e-mail. “I appreciate the willingness of my colleagues to support this request and give it a go.”

The council meeting will be in the council chambers at City Hall, 210 E. 13th St.
