Seattle mayor vetoes aggressive panhandling law

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has vetoed a measure passed by the City Council to crack down on aggressive panhandling.

The bill passed Monday would have barred certain behaviors, such as blocking a person or using intimidating words while asking for money. McGinn said Friday that he doesn’t think the measure would prevent such behavior, and that the city already has laws on the books to prohibit aggressive panhandling.
