NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The police chief in Nashville and a top Washington State official confirm that they’re candidates for the police chief’s job in New Orleans.
Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste and Nashville Police Chief Ronal Serpas are originally from New Orleans.
Batiste has headed Washington’s largest law enforcement agency since 2005. He was previously a deputy chief for the Port of Seattle and assistant chief in Tacoma, along with a 26-year career at the State Patrol.
Serpas was the New Orleans Police Department’s top administrator when he left in 2001 to become chief of the Washington State Patrol. He has been Nashville’s chief for six years.
