$500K damage from Portland church fire
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Damage is estimated at $500,000 from a fast-moving fire at the Eastside Foursquare Church in Portland. Lt. Allen Oswalt of the Portland Fire Bureau says investigators haven't yet determined what caused the Monday night blaze. They say it appears to have started in the church's meeting rooms on the second floor.
No one was injured but about two dozen guests were evacuated from an adjoining hotel.
On Tuesday, church members were looking for a temporary home for weekend services. The property also includes a Quality Inn & Suites and a Rodeway Inn, both operated by the church. The hotels remain open.
About 70 firefighters fought the blaze.
