State Rep. Deb Wallace has endorsed Olympia Democrat Denny Heck in the 3rd Congressional District race.

Wallace, a Vancouver Democrat, bowed out of the race in February, saying she could not raise enough money to run a competitive race while serving in the Legislature.

“Watching the race move forward over the past two months, it is clear Denny Heck is the candidate who best understands all of Southwest Washington and how best to get our economy moving again,” she said in a statement. “We need a member of Congress who puts getting people back to work a top priority, and Denny has both the experience and foresight to do just that.”

Wallace said she and Heck will host a series of community coffees and outreach sessions in east Clark County in the coming months to introduce Heck to residents of the 17th District, which she represents.

Heck has more than a half-million dollars in campaign funds on hand. He has been endorsed by, among others, Gov. Chris Gregoire and U.S. Rep. Brian Baird.
