YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Prosecutors are considering felony child assault charges against a man accused of scalding his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter while giving her a bath.
The 20-year-old man was ordered held Monday on $100,000 bail.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the burns suffered April 19 were so severe that layers of skin fell off the girl’s legs. She’s in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The girl’s mother was at work at the time.
The man told police he had made the bath for himself and the girl climbed in when he stepped away to answer the phone.
