BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — A Serbian court has convicted a hooligan leader for threatening an independent journalist and sentenced him to 16 months in prison.

The court ruled Wednesday that Partizan Belgrade fan Milos Radisavljevic was guilty of endangering the security of journalist Brankica Stankovic and of violent behavior.

Radisavljevic was among hundreds of Partizan fans who chanted threats and insults against Stankovic at a soccer match, tossing around an effigy of her.

Stankovic had reported in a documentary that fan group leaders were suspected of serious crimes but remained free.

Similar charges against six other fans who allegedly threatened Stankovic were rejected this year.
