OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Less than two weeks out from Washington’s primary election, Democrat Denny Heck still leads the campaign fundraising pack in the race for an open House seat in southwest Washington.

New campaign finance numbers for the month of July show that Heck has $707,840 in the bank, more than four times the combined amount of his two closest competitors for the Aug. 17 top two primary.

Republican Jaime Herrera, of Camas, says she raised more than $32,000 during the month and has about $113,000 on hand. Republican David Castillo, a former chief of staff to the state House GOP caucus, raised $12,482 last month and has about $47,000 in the bank.

All are looking to replace Democratic U.S. Rep. Brian Baird, who is retiring from the 3rd Congressional District seat.
