SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — A wildfire that has burned in the Deschutes National Forest and on private land in central Oregon has been 50 percent contained and fire officials estimate they will have it fully contained on Tuesday.

The Rooster Rock fire south of the town of Sisters had burned across 6,134 acres by Friday, or nearly 10 square miles. Fire officials say crews made excellent progress on Friday.

The blaze started Monday. The cause remains under investigation.
