Construction projects in Clark County

Commercial projects

• 192nd Avenue Station

Scope: A six-acre retail strip center.

Cost: $50 million.

Location: Would front Southeast 192nd Avenue from Southeast 15th Street south to 20th Street.

Timeline: Construction to start in 2011.

Developer: 192nd Avenue LLC.

General contractor: Perlo Construction, Portland.

• Bowyer Marketplace

Scope: A 10-building retail complex on 19 acres. A sit-down restaurant, two drive-through fast-food outlets, two banks and four buildings with shops join the WinCo Foods now under construction.

Cost: $40 million.

Location: Northwest corner of Northeast 119th Street at state Highway 503 (117th Avenue) in Brush Prairie.

Timeline: WinCo opened in April; construction is under way on two small retail buildings expected to open with tenants in late August. Work expected to start this fall on a Chase Bank branch.

Developer: Killian Pacific.

General contractor: Robertson & Olson Construction.

• Fisher Investments office complex

Scope: A campus with two six-story office buildings and parking for more than 1,000 vehicles that could become world headquarters for the multibillion-dollar California-based investment firm, which is considering relocating.

Cost: $30 million.

Location: A 150-acre tract on the south side of Southeast 20th Street, east of 192nd Avenue in Camas.

Timeline: Site clearing and road work under way.

Developer: Fisher Investments.

General contractor: Not available.

• Woodland Walmart

Scope: A 157,000-square-foot Walmart SuperCenter that will feature a full grocery store, an automotive center, an optical center and an in-store pharmacy, along with traditional Walmart offerings.

Cost: Estimated $15 million to $25 million.

Location: An 18.5-acre tract northwest of Interstate 5 at Exit 22 in Woodland.

Timeline: Expected to be complete in October.

Developer: Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

General contractor: Not available.

• Costco

Scope: A 154,700-square-foot warehouse store, fueling center with eight islands, two adjacent retail buildings and 745 parking spaces.

Cost: Unknown.

Location: A 17.5-acre site at 113 N.E. 192nd Ave. in east Vancouver.

Timeline: Site work under way.

Developer: Costco.

General contractor: Ferguson Construction Inc., Seattle.

• Lacamas Square

Scope: A 90,000-square-foot retail complex, which includes a 55,000-square-foot anchor store as part of a five-building center.

Cost: $30 million to $40 million.

Location: 6.5 acres at the northwest corner of First Street and 192nd Avenue.

Timeline: Expected to break ground in late 2010.

Developer: Unknown.

General contractor: Robertson & Olson Construction, Vancouver.

• McCord’s Vancouver Auto Center Inc.

Scope: A two-story showroom and service center under construction east of Interstate 205 north of state Highway 500 and south of Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Cost: $12.5 million.

Location: 9 acres at 10009 N.E. Fourth Plain Road.

Timeline: Expected opening in late 2010.

Developer: McCord’s Auto Group.

General contractor: Building Structures Inc. of Boring, Ore.

• 192nd Avenue Plaza

Scope: Mixed-use retail and office development that would include a mortgage company, a health and wellness center, a convenience store, two restaurants, a boutique and an auto-licensing business with drive-through service.

Cost: $12 million.

Location: 1.5 acres at southeast corner of 192nd Avenue and 20th Street.

Timeline: Expected to open in late August.

Developer: 192nd Avenue LLC.

General contractor: Perlo Construction, Portland.

Public projects

• West Vancouver Freight Access project

Scope: The Port of Vancouver’s 27-mile rail project to expand access to port property, eliminate rail yard congestion and aid waterfront development.

Cost: $137 million.

Location: West and northwest from downtown Vancouver to former Alcoa/Evergreen smelter site.

Timeline: Construction of a $14.2 million rail loop at Terminal 5 completed this year. Next phases to include rail access to Terminal 3 and rail improvements that benefit grain elevators. Work to continue through 2017.

Developer: Port of Vancouver.

General contractor: Rotschy Inc. of Yacolt was the general contractor for the recently completed rail loop project.

• Washington State University Vancouver Engineering and Computer Science Building

Scope: A four-story, 56,000-square-foot building to house the university’s new undergraduate electrical engineering program.

Cost: $43.5 million.

Location: On the north end of the 300-acre WSUV campus, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., Vancouver.

Timeline: Expected to open for 2011 fall classes.

Developer: Washington State University.

General contractor: Unknown.

• Downtown Vancouver library

Scope: A five-story public library that will house library materials, a computer classroom, a public meeting room, work areas for library staff, an early learning center and reading room with a fireplace, an outdoor terrace and a south-side atrium.

Timeline: Expected to open in mid-2011.

Developer: Fort Vancouver Regional Library District.

• Armed Forces Reserve Center

Scope: A training center for the Army Reserve and Washington Army National Guard, with offices, classrooms, storage buildings, a maintenance shop for military rigs and parking for 276 vehicles.

Cost: $24 million.

Location: On 18.5 acres on the south side of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard between 147th and 152nd avenues.

Timeline: Expected to open in June 2011.

Developer: U.S. Army Reserve and Washington National Guard.

General contractor: Garco Construction Co.

Road Projects

• Interstate 5 interchange at Northeast 134th Avenue

Scope: A new I-5 interchange at Northeast 139th Street, improving the I-205 northbound off-ramp to Northeast 134th Street, and making other local road improvements.

Cost: $140 million.

Timeline: Clark County road improvements anticipated to begin later this year, state transportation improvements anticipated to begin in 2011 for completion in late 2013 or early 2014.

Developer: Washington state Department of Transportation, Clark County Public Works Department.

General contractor: Coffman Excavation of Oregon City, Ore., awarded first phase of construction.

• Interstate 5-state Highway 501 Ridgefield interchange

Scope: A two-stage project. Stage one will replace the existing I-5 interchange at state Highway 501 in Ridgefield with a new bridge and improved on- and off-ramps, and will widen 501 to two lanes in each direction and add new turn lanes and sidewalks for pedestrian and bicycle travel along 501. Stage two of this project will add sidewalks near adjacent roadways for pedestrian and bicycle travel and will make improvements to the Highway 501/56th Place and Pioneer Street/65th Avenue intersections.

Cost: $28 million.

Timeline: Completion of stage one expected in early 2012.

Developer: Washington State Department of Transportation, City of Ridgefield, Port of Ridgefield.

General contractor: Tapani Underground, Battle Ground.

• State Highway 14: Camas-Washougal Widening and Interchange

Scope: Widen state Highway 14 from two lanes to four lanes from Camas to Washougal, construct a new bridge on the east end of Lady Island and build a split-diamond interchange at Union and Second streets.

Cost: $57 million.

Timeline: Washington State Department of Transportation will call for project bids this fall.

Developer: Washington State Department of Transportation, cities of Camas and Washougal, Port of Camas-Washougal, and Clark County.

General contractor: To be determined.

• State Highway 500-St. Johns Boulevard Interchange

Scope: The project will replace the current signalized intersection at state Route 500 and St. Johns Boulevard in Vancouver with a freeway-style interchange.

Cost: $57 million.

Timeline: Washington State Department of Transportation is working on the project design and permitting process.

Developer: State transportation department.

General contractor: To be determined.

• State Highway 502: Widening From Interstate 5 to Battle Ground

Scope: This project will widen state Highway 502 from two to four lanes from I-5 east into Battle Ground. Median barrier will also be installed to help reduce the severity of collisions along the corridor.

Cost: $87.7 million.

Timeline: Approved by the Federal Highway Administration, developers working on right-of-way acquisition process.

Developer: Washington State Department of Transportation.
