A patient robber broke into a Subway sandwich shop early Sunday, waited until the first employee showed up for work, and then staged a holdup.

Vancouver police were called to the Subway at 2400 Main St. at about 8:15 a.m.

Police said the robber apparently broke in through the back door and was there when the employee arrived. He robbed both the employee and the business before fleeing. The employee was unharmed.

The robber was described as a white man in his late teens to early 20s, 5-feet, 8-inches tall with an average build. He wore jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information is asked to call major crimes detective Scott Smith at 360-487-7416 or detective Jane Easter, 360-487-7429. Tips may be anonymous.
