Goggles McCoy wins stakes at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Goggles McCoy defeated Runaway Bandido by 212 lengths to win Wednesday’s $100,000 Real Good Deal Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds at Del Mar.

Ridden by Russell Baze, Goggles McCoy ran seven furlongs in 1:24.28 and paid $2.80, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 2-5 favorite. Runaway Bandido returned $5 and $3, while Killer Bear was another 134 lengths back in third and paid $3 to show.

Baze earned the 10,996th victory of his Hall of Fame career, which leads all jockeys in North America.

The victory, worth $60,000, increased Goggles McCoy’s career earnings to $120,160, with four wins.
