SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Home sales in Washington surged in the second quarter compared to a year ago, but median prices continued to decline.

The Washington Center for Real Estate Research at Washington State University reported Wednesday that the decline in median home prices was much smaller than seen in recent quarters.

Statewide, the number of homes sold increased 27.5 percent above the sales rate of the second quarter last year. Sales were also up 3.5 percent from the first quarter of this year.
