LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Three Wyoming football players have been suspended for the Cowboys’ first game this season and three other players have been dismissed or left the team.

Coach Dave Christensen said Wednesday that the three players serving one-game suspensions and the one dismissed from the team had violated team rules. He declined to provide further details.

The suspended players are: sophomore cornerback Kenny Browder; freshman running back Nehemie Kankolongo (NAY-me, kank-uh-LONG’-oh); and sophomore place-kicker Ian Watts. They will miss the season opener versus Southern Utah on Sept. 4.

Freshman wide receiver Turmour Battle has been dismissed from the team.

And Christensen says redshirt freshman free safety Larry Mitchell and sophomore wide receiver David Tooley have decided to leave the team for personal reasons.
