The number of Clark County homes in foreclosure fell by 20.5 percent in July, compared with the same month in 2009, according to a report released today.

With 500 houses in some stage of default in July, Clark County had the fourth-highest foreclosure rate among Washington’s 39 counties. Countywide, one out of every 325 households were in some stage of foreclosure last month, according to California-based RealtyTrac.

Washington was not among 17 states set to receive two new federal foreclosure assistance programs for unemployed homeowners. The programs, available in the coming weeks, included $2 billion from the U.S. Department of Treasury and $1 billion through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
