PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland transit authorities say a fatal fall from a southwest Portland bridge and a downtown bus-bicycle collision complicated Thursday night rush hour light rail travel.

First, authorities responded to reports that a person had fallen from the Vista Avenue Viaduct. The Oregonian says a person died at that scene. MAX train traffic stalled between southwest Portland and Washington County.

Then a shuttle bus brought into service after the fall collided with a bicyclist near Pioneer Courthouse Square. The male bicyclist was apparently alert when medics arrived.

TriMet transit spokeswoman Mary Fetsch says both scenes were clear by about 8:30 p.m.
