HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Rebecca Bross has won the U.S. gymnastics championship, scoring a 120.3 to outdistance runner-up Mattie Larson by 3.3 points.
Bross went through Saturday night’s finals without a fall, making her 8 for 8 over the span of the two-day meet. It was a wire-to-wire win for the 17-year old, who trains with Valeri Liukin, the father of defending Olympic champion Nastia Liukin.
Alicia Sacramone, hoping to return for the 2012 Olympics, backed up her solid opening-night performance with another, scoring a 14.95 on beam and 15.7 and 15.325 on vault.
Due to injuries, Bridget Sloan, who won nationals and worlds in 2009, went on beam only this time. She scored a 13.85.
