Coach displeased as Cardinals resume training camp

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Coach Ken Whisenhunt had some strong criticism for his starters as the Arizona Cardinals began their final week of training camp.

Whisenhunt said the play of the offense a couple of times in Saturday night’s preseason game against Houston “was a joke.” He said plays the team had run 25 times the past two weeks looked as if the Cardinals never had run them at all.

Whisenhunt says the team needs “a sense of urgency from the mental standpoint” of its game. Arizona practices through Saturday at the 7,000-foot elevation of Northern Arizona University before wrapping up camp and flying to Tennessee for a Monday night game against the Titans.

The Cardinals will stay in Tennessee after that because their third preseason game is just five days later at Chicago.
