Vancouver police negotiators on Sunday defused an alleged incident of domestic violence that spawned suicidal threats at a home in 13000 block of Northeast 25th Street.

Just before midnight, officers secured the area around a home where a 24-year-old man had reportedly been arguing with his wife. The man was armed, and had been drinking, according to a police bulletin. He allegedly was threatening to commit suicide.

He surrendered to authorities after brief negotiations. The man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence assault and interfering with the report of domestic violence.

Several firearms at the home were seized pending the results of an investigation.
