ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Rams rookie offensive tackle Rodger Saffold left practice early after injuring his back.
The team had not determined the extent of the injury to Saffold, the first pick of the second round who has been starting at left tackle. Saffold had been impressive enough that the team moved Jason Smith, the second overall pick last season, to the right side.
Coach Steve Spagnuolo said a player fell into Saffold’s back.
