ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have activated All-Star second baseman Martin Prado for the opener of their series against the Washington Nationals — and they’re moving him to a new position.

Prado will play third base and hit third instead of leadoff in Tuesday night’s game, essentially filling the hole created by Chipper Jones’ season-ending injury. Omar Infante will remain at second and bat leadoff.

Prado went on the 15-day disabled list after breaking his right pinky finger while sliding into home against Cincinnati on July 30. Infielder Brandon Hicks is heading back to Triple-A Gwinnett to make room for Prado.
