RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Commonwealth University men’s basketball head coach Shaka Smart has signed a two-year contract extension.
The school announced the deal Wednesday. The extension comes less than 17 months on the job.
In his first season, Smart led the Rams to a 27-9 record, one win shy of the school record. The win total was also the highest in the nation among first year Division I coaches.
