VANCOUVER – First Independent Bank will close three of its 19 branches in coming months, amid rising customer demand for self-service and online banking. Branches in Woodland and La Center will close in November and its Bingen location will close in December.
The bank’s research shows that about one-third of the account holders at these locations never go into the branch. Instead, they use other branches, go online or choose other banking options. ATMs and night-drop boxes will remain at all three locations. The announcement follows the May closure of First Indy’s Sifton branch and the year-ago closure of its Fairgrounds branch in Ridgefield.
