Mystics enter playoffs as top seed in East

WASHINGTON (AP) — Almost two years to the day after the team president offered a searing assessment of her franchise, the Mystics are entering the WNBA playoffs as the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the first time.

Their 22-12 season record was their best ever, and they’ll have homecourt advantage when they open a three-game series Wednesday against the Atlanta Dream.

Team president Sheila Johnson says she’s “pleasantly surprised” by the turnaround.
