HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 34-year-old Pennsylvania man suspected of leaving a stolen car at a Helena auto dealership and taking a pickup truck has been arrested in Oregon after crashing the truck.
Brian J. McCarthy of Somerset, Pa., was arrested Sunday afternoon in Rogue River, Ore., after backing the truck into a fence and trying to flee from officers.
Rogue River Police officials say McCarthy was jailed on warrants for auto theft from Pennsylvania and Montana, along with charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run with property damage, eluding a peace officer and reckless driving.
Helena police say McCarthy is suspected of arriving at an auto dealership on Aug. 14 in a car reported stolen in Pennsylvania and then taking the pickup as a salesman ran a credit report before a planned test drive.
