Historical costumer Rebecca Morrison-Peck will discuss “The Politics of Women’s Underwear, 1750-1950” at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clark County Historical Museum.
Morrison-Peck will describe the trials and tribulations of evolving women’s fashions, and how those fashions — and women’s shapes — were altered to reflect men’s ideals of beauty.
The Yacolt resident will explain the history of pinching corsets, trailing skirts, enormous petticoats and huge bosoms, with the help of vintage and replica clothing.
Morrison-Peck’s presentation will range from the health risks of those fashions to women’s equality and their political status today.
