COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Heritage golf tournament in South Carolina will be played a week later than usual in 2011.

The PGA Tour says the longtime event at Harbour Town Golf Links will take place from April 21-24. It’s usually played the week following the Masters.

PGA Tour chief of operations Rick George says this is a one-time move and he expects the Heritage to return to its normal dates in 2012.

George says there is an extra week between the Masters and The Players Championship. The Texas Open will be temporarily moved into the Heritage’s usual slot.

The Heritage’s future on the tour had been in doubt since it lost longtime sponsor Verizon following last April’s tournament.
