KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Amtrak is getting plenty of business in Klamath Falls for its Coast Starlight run.

The Herald and News reports that ridership is increasing and the trains are usually on time or ahead of schedule. Customers are pleased and so are station agents.

Officials told the newspaper that, over the past four years, the number of travelers using the Coast Starlight that runs from San Diego to Seattle has increased.

In Oregon, the figures show more than a 20 percent jump in the number of people traveling from Klamath Falls to Portland and from Eugene to Klamath Falls.

An Amtrak spokeswoman says it could be a sign of an improving economy along with pent-up desire to travel.
