Coach Whisenhunt says QB decision yet to be made

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals are home after a week on the road, dragging a quarterback controversy that shows no sign of a quick resolution.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke after the team practiced Monday, and seemed happy to allow the issue to simmer.

When asked if he would name a starter after Thursday’s final preseason game against Washington, he said, “Who knows? Maybe we’ll keep them guessing.”

It’s a situation Whisenhunt created with his decision to start Derek Anderson in last Saturday’s game against Chicago ahead of Matt Leinart — the No. 1 quarterback throughout camp.

Anderson expressed gratitude for the opportunity Monday.

But Leinart says he believes he’s outplayed his competition and that any problem with Whisenhunt “probably goes beyond football.”
