LYNNWOOD, Wash. (AP) — Taxes and fees approved by the Lynnwood City Council are expected to generate $7.5 million to help close a $22 million shortfall in two-year spending plans.
The Daily Herald of Everett reports the council voted Monday to raise car, property and utility taxes and to increase an employee tax on businesses.
Councilman Mark Smith said the new taxes would help pay for police, firefighters and other city services.
