PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two Oregon hedge fund managers are under investigation after complaints that investors have been unable to withdraw their money.
The Oregonian reports that state regulators are investigating Yusaf Jawed of Grifphon Asset Management in Lake Oswego and Lyman Bruhn of Sasquatch Capital in Portland for alleged securities fraud.
Jawed denied any wrongdoing during a recent interview with the Portland newspaper. Bruhn, however, did not return messages seeking comment.
The investigation by the Oregon Division of Finance and Corporate Securities comes amid increased scrutiny of hedge funds, which played a troubling role nationally in the recent financial meltdown.
